Capri Wedding Planner Intimate Weddings & Elopements on the Island

A coastal scene with large rocky cliffs, a blue sea, and several boats anchored near the coast.

There are places in the world that don't need an introduction. Capri is one of them.

The Faraglioni rising from the sea. The blue grotto. Narrow lanes of white-washed stone spilling into views that stretch to the horizon. Gardens carved into clifftops. A light that photographers chase from every corner of the world.

And yet — for all its fame — Capri still has the capacity to feel entirely intimate. Choose the right moment, the right location, the right guide, and the island becomes yours.

I'm Giuliana, a destination wedding planner and designer based on the Campania coast. I help international couples from the US, UK, Australia, and beyond plan intimate weddings, micro-weddings, and elopements on Capri that feel completely personal. Not a tourist experience dressed up as a wedding. A real day, designed entirely around you.

If you're dreaming of a Capri wedding, you're in the right place.

Why Elope or Marry on Capri?

Capri offers something most wedding destinations can't: the combination of extraordinary natural beauty and genuine exclusivity. The island is small, the venues are limited, and the right planner knows exactly where to go — and when — to make the day feel private even in one of the Mediterranean's most visited places.

For intimate weddings and elopements, Capri is extraordinary precisely because of its scale. A cliffside terrace at golden hour with the Faraglioni as your backdrop. A private villa garden where the only sound is the sea below. A boat ceremony in a hidden cove with no one else in sight.

This is what a Capri elopement can look like when it's planned well.

Where to Marry on Capri Venues & Locations

Villa Lysis

A late Belle Époque villa perched high above the sea, surrounded by terraced gardens with panoramic views over the Bay of Naples. Villa Lysis is one of Capri's most atmospheric and least-visited venues, a photographer's dream, and a perfect setting for an intimate symbolic ceremony or pre-ceremony portraits. The combination of faded grandeur and wild garden creates something genuinely unique.

Gardens of Augustus
(Giardini di Augusto)

Sculpted terraces overlooking the dramatic Via Krupp and the Faraglioni sea stacks below: one of the most iconic viewpoints on the island. While ceremonies require coordination with local authorities, the surrounding area offers extraordinary backdrops that no other destination can replicate.

Private Villa Rentals

Capri has a number of exceptional private villas available for exclusive hire: clifftop properties with private pools, panoramic terraces, and complete privacy. These are ideal for couples who want a fully contained wedding day: ceremony, dinner, and celebration all in one location without the logistics of moving across the island. I have direct relationships with villa owners and access to properties that aren't publicly listed.

Boat Ceremonies & Grotto Experiences

One of the most unique options on Capri is a ceremony or celebration on the water a private yacht or traditional gozzo anchored in front of the Faraglioni, or a golden-hour cruise around the island with an aperitivo and your vows. Capri's coastline from the sea is unlike anything you'll see from land, and a boat experience adds something genuinely extraordinary to the day.

Capri Town & Anacapri

Capri's two main towns each have their own character. Capri Town is glamorous, polished, and photogenic narrow lanes, bougainvillea, designer boutiques. Anacapri is quieter and more traditional, with views that reach all the way to the mainland. Depending on your vision, one or the other will feel more like you.

Symbolic vs. Civil Ceremony on Capri

Most couples who marry on Capri choose a symbolic ceremony and for good reason.

A symbolic ceremony gives you complete creative freedom: your own words, your own celebrant, your own location. There are no Italian bureaucratic requirements, no documents to apostille, no Comune appointments. You get legally married at your local register office before or after your trip — a quick, simple step — and then you have your real ceremony on Capri, the one that truly matters.

A legally binding civil ceremony on Capri is absolutely possible. It involves booking the Comune di Capri, gathering the required documents (birth certificate, certificate of no impediment, translations, apostilles), and scheduling the appointment well in advance. As a foreign national, the process requires 6-12 months of lead time. I have experience guiding couples through every step of it, including US, UK, and Australian specific requirements.

Not sure which is right for you? That's exactly what our first call is for. I'll ask the right questions and give you an honest recommendation.

Getting to Capri — Practical Information for International Couples

Capri is reached by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples (45-60 minutes), Sorrento (25 minutes), Positano (35 minutes), or Amalfi (55 minutes). The most convenient international gateway is Naples Capodichino Airport, well connected to major hubs including London Heathrow, London Gatwick, New York JFK, and Sydney via Rome or other European connections.

Important logistics note for your wedding day: Capri has no cars — the island runs on taxis, electric vehicles, and walking. This is part of its charm, but it requires careful planning to ensure your timeline flows smoothly. I handle all on-island logistics — transfers, vendor arrival times, equipment movement… so you never have to think about it.

Best time to marry on Capri:

Late May and June are ideal: warm weather, lush greenery, golden evening light, and significantly fewer tourists than July and August. September and early October are equally beautiful, the light turns amber, the sea is at its warmest, and the island quietens noticeably. July and August are possible but require very careful timing around crowd management and heat.

What Planning a Capri Wedding with Me Looks Like

Every wedding I plan is completely bespoke: no packages, no templates. Here's what working together typically includes:

Before your wedding day:

  • A video call to understand your vision, your priorities, and the kind of day you want

  • Full location and venue scouting tailored to your aesthetic and guest count

  • Vendor selection: photographer, celebrant, florist, hair & makeup artist, musician

  • Complete day timeline designed around the light and your specific locations

  • All logistics managed: ferry bookings, on-island transfers, vendor coordination

  • Legal guidance for symbolic or civil ceremonies

On your wedding day:

  • I'm physically present, not coordinating from a desk, but on the island with you

  • Every detail managed in real time so you never have to think about anything except each other

  • Styling and florals that match your vision, not a pre-made template

FAQs Marrying on Capri

Do we need to speak Italian?
Not at all. I handle all communication with venues, vendors, and local authorities in Italian. Your experience is designed to feel effortless.

How far in advance should we book?
For a civil ceremony, 12-18 months minimum due to document processing times. For a symbolic ceremony, 8-12 months is ideal, though I've coordinated beautiful Capri weddings in 3-4 months when couples needed to move quickly.

Can we bring guests?
Absolutely. Many of my Capri couples bring parents or a small group of close friends, typically 8-20 people. That's what I'd call a micro-wedding, and the island is perfect for it.

What are the legal requirements for US/UK/Australian couples?
For a civil ceremony, you'll need: a valid passport, a birth certificate with apostille, and a Certificate of No Impediment (Nulla Osta) from your home country. UK couples will need this from the FCDO; US couples from the relevant state authority; Australian couples from the Attorney-General's Department. I'll walk you through everything specific to your nationality.

What if the weather is bad?
Capri's weather in the recommended seasons (May-June, September-October) is exceptionally reliable. That said, I always build contingency into every plan: indoor ceremony options, timeline flexibility, and vendor communication protocols so that a change in weather becomes an adjustment, not a crisis.
