What to Expect From a Discovery Call With Me

If you are planning a wedding in Italy, especially from abroad, booking your first call with a wedding planner can feel like a bigger step than it actually is.

You might wonder what you are supposed to prepare, what questions you will be asked, or whether the conversation will turn into a sales pitch.
It does not have to.

A discovery call is simply an opportunity for us to talk about your wedding, understand what you are looking for, and see whether we would be a good fit to work together.

Here is what you can expect.

A discovery call is a conversation, not a sales pitch

The purpose of a discovery call is not to convince you to book a wedding planner on the spot.

It is a chance for me to understand who you are as a couple, what you are imagining for your wedding in Italy, and what is important to you.

It is also an opportunity for you to get to know me and understand how I work.

Planning a wedding is a very personal process, especially when you are planning from another country. You should feel comfortable asking questions, talking through ideas and being honest about what you do and do not know yet.

You do not need to have everything figured out before the call.

What will we talk about during the call?

Every conversation is a little different, but there are a few things I will usually ask about.

Your wedding vision I will want to hear what you are imagining for the day. Maybe you already have a very clear vision, or maybe you only know that you want a small wedding overlooking the sea in Italy. Both are completely fine. We might talk about the atmosphere you want, the type of setting you love, how you want the day to feel and what matters most to you.

Your guest list I will ask approximately how many people you are considering inviting. You do not need a final guest list. An estimate is enough to start understanding which destinations, venues and types of celebration could work for you.

Your date or timeframe If you already have a wedding date, we will discuss it. If you are still deciding between a few months or seasons, that is useful to know too. Your timing can affect venue availability, weather, travel and accommodation, so it is one of the pieces of information that helps shape the conversation.

Where you are in the planning process Some couples contact me before they have chosen anything. Others already have a venue, a date or even a few vendors in mind.

There is no right stage to be at when you book a discovery call. You can come to the conversation with a blank page, a Pinterest board or a venue already saved on your phone.

What should you prepare before the call?

Nothing complicated.
It can be helpful to have a rough idea of:
• Your preferred wedding date or season
• Approximate guest count
• The destination or destinations you are considering
• What you would love your wedding to feel like
• Any venues you already have in mind
• Your main questions about planning a wedding in Italy

But you do not need a detailed brief.
If you are still trying to understand whether you want to get married in Positano, Capri, Amalfi, Sorrento or somewhere completely different, that is exactly the kind of thing we can talk through.

What can you ask your wedding planner?

The call is not just about me asking you questions.

You should use the opportunity to understand how I work and what the planning experience would actually look like.

You might want to ask:

• How does your planning process work?
• How involved will we be in the decisions?
• What do you handle directly?
• How do you communicate with couples who live abroad?
• How do you help with venues and vendors?
• What happens after we decide to work together?
• What can we realistically plan for our guest count and preferred destination?

And if there is something you are unsure about, ask.

There are no silly questions when you are planning a wedding in another country.

What happens after the discovery call?

There is no expectation that you need to make a decision during the call. After our conversation, you should have a clearer idea of what your wedding could look like, what the next steps would be and whether my approach feels right for you.
If we both feel that we are a good fit, I will explain the next steps and how we can move forward. And if we are not the right fit, that is okay too.
Choosing your wedding planner is a personal decision. You should work with someone you trust and feel comfortable communicating with throughout the entire planning process.

Why the first conversation matters

When you are planning a wedding in Italy from thousands of miles away, having someone you can trust locally makes a real difference. A discovery call gives you a chance to see how a planner communicates, how they approach your ideas and whether they actually listen to what you want. It is also where I can start understanding the details that make your wedding yours rather than simply suggesting a standard list of venues or vendors.
For me, the goal is not to fit you into a package. It is to understand what you are looking for and see how I can help bring it together.

Ready to talk about your wedding in Italy?

You do not need to have everything figured out before you reach out. Whether you are dreaming about an intimate wedding on the Amalfi Coast, an elopement in Capri or a celebration somewhere else in Italy, the first step can simply be a conversation.

Book a discovery call and tell me what you are imagining.

Where to Get Married on the Amalfi Coast: Positano, Capri, Sorrento, Ischia or Amalfi?

Choosing where to get married on the Amalfi Coast can be one of the most exciting parts of planning an Italian wedding. It can also be one of the hardest.

Positano, Capri, Sorrento, Ischia and Amalfi are all beautiful, but they offer very different experiences. The best place for your wedding depends on more than the view. Your guest list, travel plans, preferred atmosphere and the kind of wedding day you are imagining all matter.

If you are planning an Amalfi Coast wedding or an intimate wedding in Southern Italy, here is how I would look at each destination.

Positano: the iconic Amalfi Coast wedding

When people picture an Amalfi Coast wedding, they often picture Positano.

The colorful houses built into the cliffs, the Mediterranean Sea, the terraces and the dramatic landscape make Positano one of the most recognizable wedding destinations in Italy.

A Positano wedding is a beautiful choice if you want spectacular sea views and a setting that immediately feels like the Amalfi Coast. It works particularly well for intimate weddings and elopements, where you can really take advantage of the scenery without having to manage a very large group.

There is one important thing to keep in mind: Positano is steep. There are stairs, narrow streets and limited access for cars, so transportation and guest mobility need to be considered carefully when planning a wedding here.

If you love the idea of a romantic wedding on a private terrace overlooking the sea and do not mind a little extra logistical planning, Positano can be an unforgettable choice.

Capri: an elegant island wedding

A Capri wedding has a completely different feeling.

Part of the experience is simply arriving on the island. Travelling by boat from Naples or Sorrento creates a sense of occasion before the wedding has even started.

Capri is particularly suited to couples looking for an elegant, intimate and exclusive atmosphere. Because accommodation and transportation on the island require more planning, it can be especially appealing for smaller weddings and elopements.

It is also a wonderful destination if you want to make your wedding part of a longer Italian experience. A few days in Capri can include boat trips, dinners, exploring the island and time with your guests before and after the celebration.

For couples planning an intimate Capri wedding, the island can feel like an entire destination created around the wedding experience.

Sorrento: a practical alternative for an Amalfi Coast wedding

Sorrento is often left out when couples begin researching where to get married on the Amalfi Coast, but it deserves consideration.

Unlike some of the steeper towns along the coast, Sorrento is easier to navigate and offers excellent connections to Naples, making it particularly convenient for international guests.

There is also a wide range of hotels, restaurants and wedding venues in and around Sorrento, which gives couples more flexibility when planning their celebration.

A Sorrento wedding can be a good option if you want beautiful coastal scenery while keeping transportation and accommodation a little simpler.

It can also work particularly well for couples inviting guests who may find the stairs and steep roads of Positano more challenging.

Ischia: a quieter island wedding in Italy

If you are looking for an alternative to Capri, consider Ischia.

Ischia is greener, quieter and more relaxed. The island is known for its thermal waters, gardens, beaches and slower pace of life, giving weddings here a very different atmosphere from the more famous Amalfi Coast destinations.

An Ischia wedding can be a beautiful choice for couples who want an intimate Italian island wedding without the feeling of being in one of the most photographed destinations in the country.

It is particularly well suited to couples who love nature, privacy and a more relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere.

For an intimate wedding or elopement, Ischia offers plenty of opportunities to create something personal and connected to the island.

Amalfi: history, architecture and a sense of place

The town of Amalfi offers something different again.

While the sea views are still an important part of the experience, Amalfi has a strong historical character. The cathedral, narrow streets and small town centre create a setting that feels very connected to the history and everyday life of the coast.

An Amalfi wedding can be a wonderful choice if you want your guests to experience more than just a beautiful view.

You can combine the wedding with time spent exploring the town, enjoying local restaurants and discovering the surrounding coast. For couples who value a sense of place and want their celebration to feel connected to Italy, Amalfi is worth considering.

Which is the best place to get married on the Amalfi Coast?

There is no single best place to get married on the Amalfi Coast.

The right destination depends on the kind of experience you want to create.

Choose Positano if you are drawn to dramatic cliffs, iconic sea views and the classic Amalfi Coast aesthetic.

Choose Capri if you want an elegant island wedding with a strong sense of exclusivity and arrival.

Choose Sorrento if easy access, accommodation and guest logistics are particularly important to you.

Choose Ischia if you want a quieter, greener and more relaxed island experience.

Choose Amalfi if history, architecture and a genuine sense of place are important to you.

And if you're open to something even less expected, I also plan weddings across Bacoli and the Campi Flegrei — a quieter alternative just outside Naples, with its own dramatic coastline and far fewer crowds.

And remember that the destination is only one part of the decision. The right wedding venue, accommodation, transportation and guest experience can completely change how a location feels.

Amalfi Coast wedding or elopement: where should you start?

If you are planning a wedding from abroad, choosing the destination can feel overwhelming. There are beautiful options everywhere, and it is not always obvious which one actually makes sense for your wedding.

This is where local knowledge becomes important.

I work with couples planning intimate weddings and elopements on the Amalfi Coast and in nearby destinations including Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, Capri and Ischia.

Rather than starting with a package or a predetermined venue, I help couples understand the differences between each destination and find the setting that fits their plans, their guests and the experience they want to have in Italy.

If you are still deciding where to get married on the Amalfi Coast, get in touch and tell me about your plans.

How to Plan an Elopement in Amalfi Coast

It All Begins Here

You've probably seen the photos. A quiet terrace suspended above the sea, the two of you exchanging vows with nothing but the Mediterranean stretching to the horizon, no audience, no rush, just the feeling that the whole coastline exists for that one moment. And then, somewhere between saving that photo and actually looking into it, reality sets in: okay, but how does this actually work?

Here's the honest answer. It isn't difficult because Italy loves paperwork, although yes, there is some. It's challenging because the Amalfi Coast doesn't behave like most of the destinations people compare it to, and that's exactly what makes it unforgettable.

The Amalfi Coast Isn't One Destination‍ ‍

People often talk about the Amalfi Coast as if it were a single place. It isn't. Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and the villages between them each have their own light, their own rhythm, their own practical quirks, and understanding those differences is usually what separates a day that feels effortless from one that feels quietly stressful the whole way through.‍ ‍

Positano loses its golden light earlier than most couples expect, because the mountains behind you hide the sunset long before it actually disappears below the horizon. Ravello offers extraordinary privacy and some of the most beautiful gardens on the coast, but its elevated position changes everything about timing and movement. Amalfi sits right on the water, which makes arriving by boat wonderfully simple, but it's also the busiest town on the coast, so knowing where, and just as importantly when, to find a quiet moment is what actually makes the difference.

None of this is an obstacle. It's simply the kind of detail that, when it's considered from the start, is what makes an elopement here feel completely natural instead of carefully managed.

It's Not Only About Finding Beautiful Vendors‍ ‍

Most couples start by looking for a venue, or a photographer. In reality, those are just two pieces of a much bigger picture.

Planning an elopement in Italy also means navigating the legal side: the Nulla Osta, the Atto Notorio, certified translations and apostilles, all of which can shift depending on which comune you choose to marry in. That part is real, and it's not something you want to be piecing together from forum posts a few weeks before your flight.

But the legal process is only the beginning. The harder part is usually invisible until someone points it out. Which terrace actually has the best light in late October? Which restaurant understands that an intimate wedding dinner is an experience, not just a larger table? How long does it really take to move between two towns during high season, once traffic and boats and stairs are all factored in? These are the questions that rarely show up in the guides you find online, and they're often exactly what shapes how the day actually feels.

What It's Really About

The couples I work with don't choose an elopement because they're trying to make their wedding smaller. They choose it because they want something more intentional: time together instead of a schedule full of obligations, real conversation instead of formalities, a dinner they'll remember for the rest of their lives not because it was extravagant, but because every part of it was chosen on purpose.

An Amalfi Coast elopement isn't a traditional wedding with the guest list removed. It's a different kind of day altogether, one where every decision starts with the two of you, set against a coastline that's been making people fall in love with it for centuries.

If you're picturing an elopement somewhere along this coast and want to talk through what it could actually look like for you two, I'd love to hear about it. That conversation is always the best place to start.
